Custom built grandfather clocks make the perfect heirloom.
It started in the 60’s on a farm near Woodburn, Ia. Howard always admired the majesty of the grandfather clock so decided he would build himself one. When that was finished, his father-in law wanted one and then an uncle. From that moment there was no turning back. What started in the garage turned into a full woodworking shop complete with a paint room and a kiln. The wood was harvested off the farm and dried in the kiln. The farm had an abundance of walnut trees but Howard did have to plant new trees when the number started to diminish.

He and his wife Aletha set up a booth at the state fair in Iowa every year in the industrial building to show and sell his clocks. Custom orders kept him busy throughout the year. Howard and Aletha delivered clocks all over the state of Iowa. Eventually, Ruble clocks were spread over the United States.

Health problems forced an early retirement. He moved to Phoenix where his interest in music dominated. Being the true craftsman, he started making banjos. He was the president of the Phoenix Old Time Fiddlers Association. So when an instrument needed repairs, Howard was the one who was called upon. A true craftsman never lays down his tools.

I'm happy to say that Ruble Clocks is back. Richard is proud to continue to custom build quality clocks that you can pass down to your grandchildren.
